Climate Champions

Climate Champions had great fun making ‘seed bombs’ with Glenn from @TCVtweets!
We observed the seeds & used our senses to describe them. We made a lot of seed bombs using compost, flour, water and seeds. We look forward to ‘throwing’ them & admiring the flowers!

Our ‘Climate Champions’ really enjoyed working with Glenn from TCV in Autumn! They learned about growing sustainably, as well as the importance of pollinator plants. As part of the session, the children had fun decorating pots and planting them with seeds to take home. We love hearing the children’s reports on how well their seeds are growing!
During the Spring Term, we will be working with Glenn to renovate our ‘Bug Hotel’ ready for new ‘guests.’
Climate Schools 180
Concerns around Climate Change are important to both our staff and pupils. We applied and were successfully chosen to take part in Learning through Landscapes ‘Climate Schools 180’ initiative.
Our ‘Climate Champions’ staff and pupils completed audits and training workshops with Naomi in December. Our pupils enjoyed using the thermometers to find the coldest/warmest places and the anemometers to find the windy/sheltered places on the playground. With Naomi’s help, we sourced sustainable ideas to meet the challenges that the data showed us.
We celebrated the plethora of climate strategies that we already have embedded & gathered ideas from the pupils around for our next steps. These will inform our Climate Action Plan, which we are in the process of writing, and help to create positive sustainable changes within our school environment.
