Our Approach to Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning at Nonsuch Primary School

At Nonsuch Primary, we believe that every child can succeed when they are supported, challenged, and inspired in the right way. Our teaching and learning approach is built on what research tells us works best for children—and what we know helps them feel happy, confident, and ready to learn.

We focus on creating calm, purposeful classrooms where children feel safe to take risks, learn from mistakes, and celebrate their progress. Our teachers have high expectations and provide the right level of support so that all pupils, no matter their starting point, can thrive. We break learning down into manageable steps, revisit key ideas to help them stick, and make sure that every child feels successful and motivated.

This page gives an overview of how we teach at Nonsuch. You’ll find out how we help children become independent learners, how we support them when they’re stuck, and how we make sure everyone is making progress. Our goal is simple: to give every child the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to do well at school—and beyond.
